When you find out you are expecting a baby, the whole world seems to shift. Somehow, your body is going to grow life and bring an entirely new little human into the world! What an amazing experience!
Suddenly, you stop wondering how you will make it through another Monday at work and instead start daydreaming about names, anticipating ultrasounds, feeling for kicks, and designing the perfect nursery. Pregnancy brings on a whole new perspective on life.
Maternity Portraits That Reflect Your Style
And while you are imagining what your little one will look like, your body is changing in remarkable ways. Although pregnancy comes with some discomfort, it’s also so beautiful and so worth documenting! I love shooting maternity sessions that portray the mother’s personality and style and help her feel like the glowing woman she is!
Ariane was the most gorgeous model for this studio maternity session. She and her husband are expecting a sweet baby girl – Victoria. They are the sweetest couple, and I couldn’t be happier for them! After getting to know them during this session, there’s no doubt that they will be the most wonderful parents to little Victoria.
Elegant Femininity
Ariane wanted her collection of photos to be soft, feminine and classic. She loves pink, and the flowing, satiny dresses she picked out were perfect! Add in a floral bouquet and head wreath, and you would think this beautiful lady belonged on the front cover of Vogue. Even during pregnancy, Ariane is so naturally elegant and graceful that she didn’t much direction from me.
After shooting in the pink gowns, we switched to some classic light and airy portraits in a lacy white gown. The natural light from the window was just what we needed to highlight Ariane and her sweet baby bump. Her husband joined in a few portraits with her, and the two of them together are some of my favorites.
Naturally Complementary
Although the studio shots came out great, this couple also opted to include one outdoor shot as well. The natural beauty of the trees and soft sunlight complemented Ariane’s serene demeanor so well. I can’t wait to see how they end up using these photos – whether in albums or wall art, these images will remind them of this sweet phase of life every time they see them. And when baby Victoria gets a little bit older, they can show her these photos depicting where it all began.
