Baby and Family Photographer Washington, DC

In honor of Mother’s Day that just passed and Father’s Day that is soon to come, I wanted to feature this sweet family and newborn session. Nothing can compare to the joy of parenthood, and these two amazing parents now have two very handsome little boys. Baby boy Ekam just made his grand debut into the world, so they came into the studio when he was nine days old for his newborn portraits and some updated family portraits as a new family of four! Along with baby Ekam, his two-year-old brother Sahib and their parents also graced my studio with their presence. It was such a pleasure working with all of them, and I really enjoyed capturing their amazing smiles. Sometimes older siblings—who are not really all that much older—seem a little hesitant about the arrival of a younger sibling. They are used to being the baby of the household, and this new role doesn’t seem as exciting at first. But just look at Sahib’s big grin! He may only be two years old, but I think he kind of understands that his best friend was just born. He was the sweetest, gentlest little older brother I have ever seen. His bright eyes lit up my studio!

I was so excited that Jasleen and Aman wanted some fun, themed newborn portraits in addition so the simple, classic ones. For themes, they chose the honey set—so cute!—as well as the little prince, blue stork, and apple orchard. Baby Ekam looked so sweet in all of them. He was a petite little guy, and he could snuggle right into any pose. Like most newborns, he slept soundly through it all!

After the themed shots, we incorporated lots of blue, cream, and warm browns into his classic portraits. I love these because they really highlight his precious newborn features that parents want to remember forever. This stage seems to fly by—in a mere twelve months he will already be on the move—so I want to get as many of these detail shots as possible for them. I also wanted to give Jasleen a special mother/son photo. Since life gets so busy, these are harder to come by with the birth of the second child. She looked absolutely radiant lying there with her new son, flowers floating all around. I hope she felt just as beautiful as she looked—stunning!

Finally, we did their family photos. Jasleen has the most beautiful smile! She and Aman looked so happy and blissful as they relished in this moment with their boys.
