While much of my time is spent on designing and shooting newborn sessions, I do get the honor of shooting quite a few milestone sessions, too! It’s always so much fun to watch tiny newborns transform into inquisitive, wiggly babies and later into exploring toddlers – I love a good cake smash! Are you searching for Maternity Photographer DC? Due to some complications, this sweet family missed their newborn session, but I told them to come on over when they could! And at three months old, their bouncing baby boy was more than ready for his very first photoshoot. Capturing older babies is very different from photographing tiny snoozing newborns. They tend to be a little more difficult since they are more alert and attached to Mom and Dad. However, little Oliver was such a good model and rocked his photoshoot. He was even down for dressing up as Baby Santa Claus. He must have had more than his helping of milk and cookies because he slept hard through that part of the session! Their session fell during the holidays, so half of their session took place in the cozy Christmas set. Their joy was infectious, and these family shots were perfect for Christmas cards.
Then, we moved on to classic newborn portraits to capture those sweet baby details they never want to forget: wiggly toes, soft baby skin, and the sweetest little lips you ever did see. Oliver was awake at this point, but he had no problem showing off his dark dazzling eyes for us. I think the camera lens fascinated him, and his closeups were too cute!
After getting several shots showing off some of Oliver’s three month milestones, like lifting his head during tummy time and grabbing his toes, we moved on to the family portraits. The three of them have already settled in so well together. It didn’t take much effort on my part to get them into picture-perfect poses. They brought along the cutest outfits for Oliver that went well with each set, and I really love the plaid shirt he wore during the mommy and me shot. The photo of baby Oliver and Dad is absolutely priceless! It’s safe to say that Oliver’s favorite place in the whole world is in Mom and Dad’s arms.
