5 Stunning Maternity Photos You Should Try | Washington DC Maternity Photography

Not all maternity sessions have to include the same 3 traditional portraits you see on the internet. Instead, get creative, and use your session as a time to play up your personality and shine as the gorgeous mother-to-be that you are! Looking for some inspiration on what types of poses, themes, and outfits to include in your upcoming session? You’ve come to the right place!

For this post, we’ll use Carmen’s incredible session as an example. This glowing expecting mother brought along her man to pull of this session filled with diverse styles from glamorous to traditional to sexy!

  1. Lacy

Show off that beautiful bump and your pregnancy glow with some pretty lace. It’s simple and feminine, and it looks so beautiful in pictures! Lace gently lays over curves in the most flattering way. And, it shows everything off…without showing everything off, if you know what I mean. 😉

  1. Whimsical

If the weather is nice, take the session outside among the trees. Put on a flowing gown in your favorite color, and add a floral head wreath – the pictures always come out so dreamy! Carmen decided to do a few individual portraits as well as some couple’s portraits. I’m in love with how they turned out!

  1. Glamorous

Get your hair and makeup done and put on a fitted gown – this is a time to pamper yourself and feel radiant. I loved this golden dress that Carmen picked out. It complemented her complexion, accentuated her bump, and showed off her long, dark hair beautifully! I want every expecting mother who comes through my doors to feel like a queen – because you are!

  1. Sexy

This is a great time to celebrate the love between you and your partner. Let’s be honest, that’s what got you here! Why not get a few photos that convey a little romance. Expecting mothers are still sexy, and I love that Carmen and her man chose to embrace that and have some fun during this session. Her black and white photos are striking!

  1. Intimate

Make sure to get some sweet photos of just the two of you. You don’t have to share all of your portraits. Ask your photographer to get some sweet, authentic photos of you and your partner sharing this special time together before baby arrives. You’ll cherish these photos forever. This is where your family’s story began.
