Apple orchards, snowy forests, and floral wreaths – this precious baby girl was transported into all kinds of whimsical backgrounds during her newborn photoshoot. Emma’s parents booked her newborn session with me to capture the precious moments of the magical first few months of life. Baby Emma was just 4.5 pounds when she was born, so they waited a bit to come to the studio. When she arrived, she was already a month and half old, but still so sweet and petite. Amazingly, she still snoozed most of the way through her session and happily complied with all of the snuggly, curled up positions. She had such beautiful features, and I couldn’t get enough of her precious fingers. I love capturing detailed shots during newborn sessions. After all, they grow into playful toddlers full of personality in just twelve short months!

When I asked what they would be using these photos for, they responded with, “Everything!” Is there any “wrong” way to use a baby photo? I don’t think so! They have several places in their home, like the master bedroom, hallways, and nursery, that they’d like to decorate with updated photos. They already have some family photography displayed as wall art, but none of their pictures feature precious Emma yet. I was so excited to provide some for them!

So, in addition to the traditional newborn photos and fun, whimsical shots, Mom and Dad wanted several family photos, too. After all, baby Emma has completely transformed their family. The sweet mother-daughter shots and father-daughter images were just perfect. You could tell they were absolutely head over heels with their perfect princess. They chose to wear all white – Dad in a button-down and Mom in a beautiful lace blouse – and I love how the neutral colors allowed us to really focus in on their faces and family bond. They look so elegant and classic.

One of the best things about newborn photography is that parents have so many options: whimsical themed images galore, classic newborn poses, traditional family shots, intimate lifestyle image. When scheduling newborn sessions, I invite parents to meet with me ahead of time (in person or by phone) to discuss their style and types of images they hope to get from the session.
