Why are whimsical portraits so popular in newborn photography? Not only do babies look adorable dressed up in just about any outfit, it’s the perfect time to get a full collection of creative images to use in albums, wall art, and other print materials. Usually, babies happily snooze away during their session while we capture those precious newborn features you never want to forget.
Finding Your Inspiration
I always enjoy discussing themes, colors, and sets with new parents! One of my greatest passions as a newborn photographer is to bring their visions to life. If your nursery is nautical-themed, let’s do a few images of you baby setting sail! Does your babies name have a symbolic meaning? Let’s incorporate that into the session! Love a particular season? Festive seasonal themes are some of my favorites, and I have tons of images to show that will help inspire you.
For this session, Mom and Dad wanted to incorporate warm fall colors, classic newborn portraits, and whimsical florals, and poignant black and white family photos into their session. We managed to capture a little bit of them all – and oh, how beautiful they turned out.
Welcome to the World, Baby Alara!
Baby Alara Shasti was born September 16, 2019 at a healthy 7.4 pounds and 21 inches long. She is such a beauty with a head full of dark brown hair. Combined with the pastel florals, deep greenery, and rich fall tones, sweet Alara stood out as the precious gem in each one of them!
This little girl was happy as could be throughout her session. She even gave us several sleepy smiles, which can be pretty rare in newborn sessions. I just loved seeing her tiny smirk appear, and I made sure to quickly capture the magic of the moment before she settled back into her deep sleep.
Alara’s parents, Mark and Sherry, were such a pleasure to work with. One of the main reasons we were able to capture such a large, diverse collection was because we easily fell into a groove, and each person seemed to naturally know what to do next. I couldn’t believe how fast the session flew by when it was time to end.
Alara is so very loved by her parents, and even just from this sweet newborn session, I can tell that she’s going to be one special girl. Happy BIRTH day, baby girl!
