There’s never a bad time for newborn photos. Every season brings inspiration for adorable newborn sets – sunflowers and beachy scenes for summer, brightly colored leaves and little pumpkin outfits in autumn, and peaceful snowy scenes and holiday cheer during winter. I really don’t have a favorite and look forward to them all. But right now, after this very long winter, I am so ready for spring! Despite the chill outside, spring has already sprung inside the studio. As you walk in, you’ll find soft pinks, lavender, delicate petals, and flowers of every kind. For baby boys, I have lots of bright, sunny themes with yellow and light blue as well as sweet woodland sets.
About this sweet girl’s session
When Lenore contacted me about doing a newborn session for baby girl Giovanna, I could not wait to set up some springtime themes for this two-week-old princess! I imagined bunnies and eggs, peonies and white lace, a pink bed of petals and yellow roses to match the joy that this little one brings to the world. When they arrived, I knew the sets would be just perfect for this little beauty. Right after birth, she weighed 6 pound 8 ounces and was 19 inches long, so she was a petite little angel. Her soft cheeks and tiny toes were so precious – I couldn’t get enough of her newborn perfection.
As per my current springtime obsession, I couldn’t decide on a favorite color, so I added a new backdrop filled with multi-colored blossoms. Instead of leaves, this top of this tree boasts a splash of color with a subtle rainbow of hydrangeas, roses, peonies, and begonias. Baby Giovanna slept soundly in the trunk of the tree, peaceful as could be.
In one of my favorite images, it looks like Baby girl is drifting off to dreamland inside a glass heart with a flower blooming from the top of it. I love the image because it is so simple. The green stem and soft pink bloom prove just a subtle touch of color while the rest remains neutral, almost as if she’s floating on air. The portrait really shows off Giovanna’s sweet features in a classic newborn pose. The image is reflected beneath her, and the replication softens the photo and adds extra dimension. Reflections always seem to complement newborn poses so well.
I loved doing this sweet girl’s springtime newborn session. Her mother, Lenore, was such a pleasure to work with, and I couldn’t wait to get these images back to her! Congratulations to this special family on their new addition!
