As a maternity and newborn photographer, I’ve met many expecting women over the years. One thing I’ve noticed is that although most mamas like sharing their pregnancy and delivery experiences with other women. It’s like a rite of passage of sorts, and we enjoy hearing about other women who have gone through the same exciting yet terrifying, joyful yet tearful journey with beauty and grace. Sharing reminds us that we’re not alone. We have other warrior women who have gone before us and still more who are coming after us in this crazy process of bringing children into the world. We can laugh and cry with each other, and that keeps us going. It is absolutely lovely. But, at the same time, I have also noticed that no two mothers/moms-to-be are the same. And consequently, no two stories seem to be exactly the same, either. After listening to all of these beautiful mamas, I’ve learned to cater my sessions to all of those individual ladies out there. I want their maternity and newborn photos to represent who they are and display their own unique styles. I also want them to feel beautiful when they come to my studio.
For her maternity photo session, we decided to do something new and special using silk fabrics, silhouette photos, black and white images, and some nude photos to show off her beautiful growing bump and really highlight what pregnancy looks like on her. I was so happy with the results, and I hope she was, too! Check them out below. I really love the black and white nude photo with the reflection underneath. I could not believe she was so far along in these photos—she looks stunning, and she jumped right in with all of the unique poses (certainly a testament to her healthy lifestyle). She was glowing! I also really like the photos of the silk flowing out behind her. She looks like she could just lift off of the ground.
I had an amazing time with this special mama fulfilling her vision for maternity photos. I’d love to help you out, too. Contact me [here] and let me know what you have in mind!
