FAQ
When is the best time to schedule a maternity session?
The ideal time is between 26 and 32 weeks of pregnancy. At this stage, your belly is beautifully round, and you’re still comfortable enough to pose and move freely.
What if I’m expecting twins or this is my second pregnancy?
If you’re expecting twins (or triplets), I recommend scheduling your maternity session a bit earlier—ideally between 20–26 weeks of pregnancy.
For second (or third, fourth…) pregnancies, the belly tends to show earlier, so the best time for your session is usually between 24–26 weeks. This ensures your bump is beautifully round, while you’re still comfortable and glowing!
How should I prepare for my session?
We’ll begin with a phone consultation to discuss your ideas, wardrobe, and the overall vision for your session. I’ll also send you a guide to help you prepare — from outfit tips to how to get the most out of your experience.
Do you provide dresses and styling for moms?
Yes! I have a curated wardrobe of maternity gowns in various styles, fabrics, and colors — soft silks, fitted glamour, elegant lace, and more. Many of my clients come with no idea what to wear — and leave feeling like royalty. Just bring yourself — I’ve got the rest covered. Can I bring my own outfits?
- Nude or neutral strapless bras and seamless underwear
- Bandeaus, lingerie, or non-maternity jeans

Can I include cultural outfits or modest styling?
Yes, absolutely. Whether you’d like to wear a traditional outfit or prefer modest, covered poses — I will tailor everything to your comfort. Your culture, style, and story are always welcome here.
I’m feeling insecure about how I look during pregnancy. Should I still book?
Yes. Please do. Many of my clients tell me they feel self-conscious or unsure — and yet, when you see my portfolio, they all look like goddesses. None of them are professional models — they’re real women, just like you.
That’s why they hire me. I know how to pose you, how to light you, and how to guide you so you look strong, graceful, and beautiful. You don’t need to know what to do — I’ll take care of you every step of the way. My Maryland, Virginia & Washington DC Maternity photography approach is all about helping you feel empowered and beautiful at every stage.
Do you offer makeup and hair services?
Yes. A professional makeup artist and hairstylist can be booked for an additional $300. Or, if you prefer to do your own glam, you’re welcome to arrive ready at the studio.
What should I avoid before the session?
Avoid spray tans — they tend to photograph orange. Keep nails clean and neutral, and avoid very bold makeup unless that’s your signature style. I recommend soft, timeless looks.
What should my partner wear?
Neutral, solid colors like white, beige, gray, or soft blue work best. Avoid logos or busy patterns. Think “classic and simple” — the focus should stay on you.
Can my children join the session?
Yes — siblings are welcome to join! We’ll take some family photos and sibling portraits before focusing on you and the bump.
Can I bring my pet to the session?
Yes, I love when pets are involved! Dogs are welcome as long as they’re well-behaved. Just let me know ahead of time so I can plan space and timing.
Do you offer outdoor Virginia, Maryland or Washington DC maternity photography?
Most of my sessions are in-studio — where you have comfort, privacy, and everything you need. However, I do have a beautiful garden right outside my studio, and if the weather is nice, we can absolutely step outside for a few outdoor portraits.
But truthfully, I recommend the studio — it’s climate controlled, never humid or rainy, and you can change your outfit and fix your makeup in comfort. We also have more variety and artistic control indoors.
Can I reschedule if I don’t feel well?
Yes, of course. I’ve had four kids myself — I understand how pregnancy feels! If something comes up or you’re just not feeling great, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance, and we’ll reschedule. There’s never a penalty for that.
What happens after the session?
- I can send you a private online gallery to view and select your favorites at home.
- Or — what I recommend — you return to the studio for a personal ordering appointment. I’ll help you choose the best images and design custom artwork like albums and wall pieces to match your home and style.
