Baby Milestone Portraits
1 - 12 Months
Your baby’s first year moves fast – 3, 6, 9 and 12 months each bring a new stage to remember. Our studio is temperature-controlled and sanitized, and every session is baby-led with plenty of time for feeding and soothing. We keep sets simple and playful so the focus stays on expression and connection. You’ll get wardrobe guidance in soft, timeless tones that photograph beautifully, and parents or siblings can step in for a few frames.

FAQ
When is the best time to schedule a newborn session?
The best time for a newborn photo session is when your baby is between 5 and 14 days old. At this age, they are sleepiest and easiest to pose safely. We schedule your session based on your due date. However, if your baby arrives early or late, we’ll adjust your session without any stress.
Do you photograph twins or triplets?
Absolutely! As a twin mom myself, I love working with multiples. I have the experience, patience, and special props designed just for twins and triplets. The entire session is tailored to your babies’ comfort. And best of all – there’s no extra charge.
Can grandparents join the session?
Yes, grandparents are always welcome! Their presence makes the session even more meaningful. For the best results, please check my guide on How to Prepare for a Family Session. Coordinated clothing helps create timeless and harmonious portraits.
Can siblings come too?
Of course! My studio has toys and snacks available. Still, I suggest bringing your child’s favorite snack or quiet activity. Newborn sessions last 2–3 hours. We always start with sibling portraits before they relax or head home with a caregiver.
Can our dog be part of the photos?
Yes! Pets are family, and they’re always welcome in the studio. Just let me know in advance if you plan to bring your dog. I’ll prepare accordingly and allow extra time if needed.
If possible, bring someone to help watch your dog while they’re not being photographed. Newborn sessions can be long (about 2–3 hours), and we want everyone to stay safe and comfortable.
What if my baby is fussy or won’t sleep?
That’s completely normal! I’ve worked with newborns for over 20 years. With patience and gentle techniques, I’ll soothe and pose your baby at their pace. We always allow time for feeding, changing, and cuddling when needed.
What should we bring to the session?
Just your baby and milk! My studio has everything else — diapers, wipes, blankets, wraps, props, and newborn outfits. I also provide a curated collection of dresses for moms and little girls. You don’t need to worry about a thing. Just arrive and enjoy the experience.
How do we choose colors and styles?
Before your session, I’ll ask you to send me 3–5 of your favorite colors. I’ll design sets, props, and outfits to match. Feel free to send photos of your nursery or home decor so your portraits perfectly complement your space when printed.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes! A newborn session is a thoughtful and unforgettable gift for expecting parents. I offer both digital and printed gift certificates — beautifully packaged and ready to give.
Where is your studio located?
My full-service newborn photography studio is located near Tysons Corner—a short drive from Washington, DC and convenient to Northern Virginia and Maryland. If you’re looking for a newborn photographer in the DMV, I’d love to welcome you to a calm, comfortable studio designed for beautiful portraits.
What is the process from booking to delivery?
- Initial consultation — we discuss your vision and reserve your session based on your due date.
- Second consultation — you send your favorite colors, inspirations, and home decor photos.
- Session day — I handle everything; you just relax and enjoy.
- 2–5 days later — you return for your ordering appointment, where you choose your favorite images and products like albums and wall art.
Do you provide makeup and hair services?
I can invite a professional makeup artist and hairstylist for an additional $300. However, I do not allow outside makeup or hair artists to work in the studio during sessions. You can do your own makeup and hair during the session while I’m photographing your baby.
What time of day do you recommend for the session?
My studio is open from 8 AM to 5 PM. For newborn sessions, I recommend morning times, especially if siblings will be involved. Kids tend to be more comfortable and energetic in the morning, and more tired by evening.
My baby is already born. Is it too late to have a newborn session?
Not at all! As a VA, MD, & Washington DC newborn photographer, I’ve worked with babies of all ages. While the first two weeks are ideal, beautiful portraits are absolutely possible even if your little one is a bit older. We’ll tailor the session to your baby’s comfort and still create timeless, heartfelt images you’ll cherish forever.
When will I receive my photos after the session?
Photos will be ready the next day. You’re invited back for your ordering appointment, which usually takes about one hour. During this time, I’ll help you choose your favorite images and show you products like albums and prints, so you can select what works best for your family.
Do you offer discounts for military families?
Yes! As a proud VA, MD & Washington DC newborn photographer, I’m honored to work with many military families in the area. I offer a $100 military discount as a small thank-you for your service.
Do you offer in-home newborn photography?
I used to offer in-home sessions, but I no longer do them. Home sessions are more lifestyle-focused and usually center around the baby only. In contrast, my studio allows for a much wider variety of setups — especially for larger families.
I specialize in a polished newborn photography style that beautifully captures both the baby and the whole family in a timeless, artistic way. This look simply isn’t possible in a home setting.
My full-service studio is fully equipped with a wide range of backdrops, props, professional lighting, and everything needed to create a relaxed, luxurious experience. I highly recommend coming to the studio to get the very best results.
Is it safe to bring my newborn to your studio?
Absolutely! I’ve photographed many newborns in their first two weeks. The babies are mostly sleeping and calm. My studio is clean, spacious, and fully equipped with everything needed for the comfort and safety of both baby and parents. You will feel comfortable and secure during your visit.
Do you offer dresses for moms and girls?
Yes, absolutely! I have a large collection of beautiful, timeless dresses for moms and little girls in a variety of sizes, styles, and colors. This makes it easy to create a cohesive, elegant look for your session without the stress of shopping or coordinating outfits on your own.
